Long Story Short

Why this product?

If you (or your passenger) go out and get dirty, these will keep sweat/dirt/snow/sand from directly ending up on your seats and is easily added/removed for those occasions.

Why this brand?

This brand offers a simple, durable, and functional seat cover that’s easy to add/remove whenever you need them. Closely fits the seat with no ugly excess material hanging over.

Any regrets?

The simplicity of the product means it’ll move when you get in/out of the car, but such is the nature of an intentionally removable product.

Long Story Long

There are three types of people. (1) Those that allow every bit of dirt to get on their seats. (2) Those that install permanent seat covers and never see the original seats ever again. (3) People who only cover their seats when they know they’re going to get dirty. This product is for that last group. I like the look of the factory seats so I want to see them in their full glory, but I know I (and others) do things that will definitely get them dirty sometimes. Rather than having to do a full clean cycle on the seats, I’ve gone for easily removable seat covers that I can put on for those dirty occasions. I used to just use a beach towel, but that never protected the back of the seat so I was constantly adjusting it while driving, which was not great. Enter the BDK Seat Cover, that provides a towel-like absorbent surface, a hood to hang from the headrest covering the vertical section of the seat, and a grippy underside that prevents it from moving around mid drive.

  • Gym: If you sweat like I do, you can sit on this and not immediately transfer all your sweat to the seat.

  • Biking: A dirty sport that will leave mud clinging to your clothes, but this will keep that dirt from grinding into the seat.

  • Skiing/snowboarding: This will provide some protection from not only the melting snow stuck in your clothes, but also from all the zippers/fasteners on your outer layers.

  • Surfing/beach days: Sand is one of the most annoying things to try to remove, so this product can serve to prevent (most of) the sand from ending up in your seat.

Product Details

What I like:

Lightweight product (easy to pack, add, and remove), rubbery back keeps it in place while sitting, very good fit with no sloppy overhang.

What I don’t like:

It only holds so much water, so if you’re getting into extreme messes, you may want to go for more protection or a more permanent solution.

Installation Tips

Toss it over the headrest to set the position, then the rest just falls into place with minor adjustments to line it up.

Alternatives

Gorla (Gorla Seat Cover)

This is a well-reviewed seat cover of the same ilk as above (lightweight, meant to be removed, minimal fabric overhang), but is made of neoprene if you prefer that material.

Warning: regardless of what seat cover you get, make sure that it does not block any of the side air bags - this could be a major safety issue.
