Long Story Long
I’m not sure what Tesla had in mind when they encountered these two gaps in the trunk - it almost seems like they ended up with the extra space, didn’t know what to do with it, so just covered it in felt and called it a day. However, in practical application, if you have small things in your trunk, or one of your grocery bags with small things tips over, gravity beckons those things into those holes and you have to find them. Also, heaven forbid anything in semi liquid form drops in there, since you’ll have a heck of a time trying to clean that out. One solution is getting a good floormat set that has a lip to prevent rolling or spilling, the other is a dedicated solution to cover up those holes. Enter the Motrobe organizer:
The felt covers are a great fit and great match to the carpet, such that a casual observer would never know they didn’t come with the car, or that an entirely flat surface from side to side wasn’t the original manufacturer spec. There’s a simple pull tab and the cover pops off, exposing the storage below.
As I mentioned above, things inevitably fall into those holes (sand from the beach, small items, the occasional sneaky leaf, etc.). Not only is it impossible to tell when that happens without looking in there regularly with a flashlight, but anyone that’s had to deal with sand or crushed leaves should know how impossible it is to get out from any felt surface, much less a deep dark hole of felt surfaces. The rubberized liner provided with this kit is perfect to not only prevent this mess, but store small messy thing out of the way (and cover them to prevent smells from leaking out!). My use cases for these cubbies are wet umbrellas, wet shoes, dirty work gloves, or various tools that I don’t want anywhere else. I also keep empty plastic bags in here to wrap up wet/dirty items.

What I don’t like:
Nothing really, no downside to having these unless you use that space for regularly accessed items that a cover would make more inconvenient.
Installation Tips
The hardest part about installing this will be figuring out which side is left vs. right, and then the specific orientation, but if it’s not a precise fit, you know you’ve done something wrong.
